Crawford State Park Hosts Ice Fishing Tournament

CRAWFORD, CO. – Attention ice anglers: Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Bait Box-N-More bait shop will be hosting the 1st Annual Pike Ice Derby at Crawford State Park on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The tournament runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with weigh-ins from 3:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register for the tournament at the Bait Box-N-More in Crawford. Prizes will be awarded for most weight for two pike caught and largest pike caught. The most weight place prize is 75% of pot and 15% for largest pike caught.

Eleven Mile SP Hosts Ice Fishing Tournament

LAKE GEORGE, CO. - The 2012 Sports Column Colorado Classic Ice Fishing Tournament, hosted by Colorado State Parks and produced by the 11 Mile Marina at Eleven Mile State Park, held the opening Grand Slam event on Jan. 7. The Grand Slam was the first in a three-contest series and 115 teams from all over Colorado competed for over $7,000.00 in prize money.

RIFLE, CO. – Attention ice anglers: Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Rifle Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 14th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament at Rifle Gap State Park on Jan. 21-22.
This two-day event is a great opportunity to enjoy ice fishing in a family-friendly setting. Prizes will be awarded for largest rainbow trout, brown trout and yellow perch. For adults 18 and older, there are cash prizes for the top five lengths for each species. There will also be prizes for youths between ages 11-17 and for kids ages 10 and under. The lucky angler who lands the biggest fish will win a chance at $20,000.

Vega State Park Hosts Ice Fishing Tournament

COLLBRAN, CO. - Attention ice anglers: Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Collbran Lions Club will be hosting a one-day Ice Fishing Tournament at Vega State Park on Feb. 11.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with check-in either Friday night at Vega Lodge from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or on Saturday beginning at 6 a.m. at the Vega State Park entrance. Prizes will be awarded for largest fish caught. For adults 18 and older, there are cash prizes for the top five lengths. The first place prize is $750. Non-cash prizes will be awarded to the first five places for youths between ages 11-17 and also for kids ages 10 and under.

DENVER - Colorado Parks and Wildlife will close the boat ramp at Tarryall Reservoir State Wildlife Area in South Park on Thursday Oct. 27 instead of October 31.

The earlier closure is not expected to impact boaters as no boaters have been recorded on Tarryall the last weekend of October for the last three years.

RIFLE, CO. – Rifle Gap and Harvey Gap State Parks will change the boat inspection hours on Saturday, Oct. 1 to coincide with the shorter daylight hours. At Harvey Gap, the inspection hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. Rifle Gap will have inspectors available from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., seven days a week.

STERLING, CO - North Sterling State Park will close to boating on Friday, September 30. While the water levels remain higher than normal for this irrigation reservoir, budget reductions require that the park to close for boating at the end of the month.

Colorado's Cherry Creek SP Goes to Fall Ramp Hours

AURORA, Colo. - Cherry Creek State Park will be changing to fall season hours at the East and West Boat Ramps beginning October 1. The new hours for the Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspection station will be 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily at the East Boat Ramp. The West Boat Ramp inspection station will remain open until October 31 from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only. All trailered vessels must go through an Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspection prior to launching. Boaters who wish to launch outside of those hours must obtain a seal from a certified ANS boat inspector during business hours and complete the registration form provided at each boat ramp prior to launch. Remember to always clean, drain, and dry your vessel to help prevent the spread of ANS.

Dumont Lake Draining Complete

HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials have completed draining operations at Dumont Lake, and are thanking anglers for their help and cooperation during a temporary public fish salvage authorized by CPW managers. The lifting of the catch and release restrictions was slated to continue until Oct. 31; however, the lake was drained much sooner than expected.
