Reyno Levee reopens on Dave Donaldson Black River WMA

POCAHONTAS - The Reyno Levee within Dave Donaldson Black River Wildlife Management Area has reopened for public access. The levee will remain open through Oct. 31 - as long as weather related conditions allow vehicular travel without causing damage to the levee top surface.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission plans drawdown for Harris Brake Lake

PERRYVILLE - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will begin a drawdown of Harris Brake Lake on Aug. 1. To keep adjacent landowners informed, the AGFC will be holding a public meeting to discuss management actions and answer questions concerning the drawdown. The meeting will be held July 9 at 6 p.m. in the Perryville High School cafeteria.

New law affects teen boaters operating personal watercraft

LITTLE ROCK - A portion of Act 693, known as “Rachel’s Law,” will take effect July 10, raising the minimum age to 16 years for individuals to legally operate a personal watercraft alone. Previously, the minimum age had been 14 years to operate a personal watercraft, which includes Jet Skis, Sea-Doos and WaveRunners.

LAKE DARDANELLE TO HOST WALMART BASS FISHING LEAGUE ARKIE DIVISION TOURNAMENT

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas -- The Arkie Division of the $8 million Walmart Bass Fishing League® will visit Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Arkansas, June 13 for the fourth of five regular-season events. As many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $45,000 in cash, including a top award of $6,000 in the Boater Division.

2009 Arkansas boating accident numbers are up from last year

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas boating accidents and fatalities are up from this same time last year. Currently, there have been 21 reported accidents with six fatalities. At this same time last year Arkansas had 12 accidents with four fatalities.
