April showers have brought May flowers to Kansas state parks, and with flowers come warm weather and more outdoor events. Many of the highlights of state park events are OK Kids Days. This May, several state parks will conduct events specifically for youth. These events provide opportunities for kids across Kansas to experience various outdoor activities, from birdwatching to fishing clinics. For many, this is an introduction to the outdoors. For others, it is a rekindling of outdoor interests.

Fishing TournamentsKODAK, TENNESSEE – Boater Larry Neal of Piney Flats, Tennessee, won the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League® Volunteer Division tournament on Douglas Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 16 pounds, 8 ounces. The victory earned Neal $4,352 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Murray Regional Championship in Columbia, South Carolina, October 23-25, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

TFFC: Four New Entries in the Budweiser Sharelunker Program

Manasco was catching a lot of small fish Sunday, Feb. 24, in four feet of water in the back of a cove when a 13.75-pound largemouth took his green six-inch ZOOM stick worm.

It wasn’t exactly the way he wanted to end his year atop the bass fishing world, but Boyd Duckett is not about to complain.
Duckett, the Demopolis businessman who became the first home-state angler to win a Bassmaster Classic last year with his victory on Lay Lake, struggled on the opening day of the 2008 Classic in Greenville, S.C., and wasn’t able to make the cut.
