Fisherman's Kayak Lets You Fish Where No Kayaker has Fished Before

Boating News | Fishing Tackle News

Who ever heard of fishing in a kayak? Until the Fisherman’s Kayak came along, kayak fishing was an activity worthy of a Three Stooges episode. This one lets you cruise out to that special spot, sneaking along motorless just like a normal kayaker so you won’t scare away all those whopper fish. Then extend the two outriggers for a perfect fishing platform.

Porcupine Fish Attractor

Fishing Tackle News | Tennessee

How many times have you been on the lake and just by chance found an old sunken tree that someone planted that you couldn't see? Chances are depending on the season, and if you didn't get hung up in it, you may very well have caught any number of species of fish out of it. Of course the Key Word are "If You Didn't Get Hung Up In It". Right? Planting structure has long since been a key way for Bass, Crappie, Shell Cracker and Blue Gill fishermen to increase their catch potential. In past years the structure of choice many times was a discarded Christmas tree, which definitely will attract fish. But they are hard to transport in your boat and because of their buoyancy and depending on the size of the tree took a lot of weight to secure them to the bottom of the lake. Then, someone thought of using PVC pipe which was a great idea. The PVC helped eliminate having your bait hung up but to get the attractor to resemble a "Tree" or a "Bush it took several different size of pipe and multiple elbows and t's. And depending on the size a bigger chunk of something to hold it down. Then a gentleman (and Crappie fanatic) named Larry Harper helped improved on the PVC idea to create what I believe to be the best attractor on the market today. The Porcupine Fish Attractor. Let me explain how the Porcupine works and what it is.

Fishing Report

Fishing Tackle News | Utah

Warning: Whirling Disease was found in the Northeastern Region on both the north and south slope of the Uinta Mountains. It is believed anglers are now the main source of movement of the parasite that causes Whirling Disease. To avoid spreading the disease, do not move fish or fish parts from one water to another. Clean the fish well away from the water and dispose of the unwanted parts in the garbage. If that's not possible then bury it in a deep hole or burn it completely. One infected fish carcass can contain over a million spores. Also, make sure to clean, dry and sterilize waders, live wells and other fishing gear before venturing to another water or above a diversion (such as a small dam) which are being built to stop the movement of infected fish.

In just three trips to Nantahala Lake this month, angler Mark Swann caught two North Carolina record kokanee salmon. The latest is a 3.07-pound fish that measured 19½ inches in length. Swann caught his first record-breaker, a 2.48 pounder, on Aug. 3, only to see the record broken the next day by 9-year-old Levi Towery, who brought in a salmon that topped his by a mere two-tenths of a pound.
