GREEN RIVER-- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department hopes some teenagers will unplug their iPods and cells phones and instead tune into outdoor recreation and conservation this summer.

The Game and Fish is offering teens ages 14-17 a camp where they can learn about wildlife and the outdoors, make new friends and create good memories. The Game and Fish annual WILD About O.R.E.O. Youth Conservation Camp is scheduled for Aug. 2-7, 2009. The department's Whiskey Mountain Wildlife Conservation Camp is located near Trail Lake, ten miles southeast of Dubois, Wyo.

CHEYENNE-- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host a series of public information meetings on how the public can help protect Wyoming waters from a host of organisms, collectively known as aquatic invasive species. Aquatic invasive species are non-native organisms that represent a very real threat to the state because of the ecological, recreational and economic impacts they can have on water, fish, equipment and as well as irrigation, industrial and municipal uses of water.

DENVER-A new poll released Thursday by Sportsmen for Responsible Energy Development (SFRED) shows hunters and anglers in the Rocky Mountain West are not willing to sacrifice fish and game resources to unchecked oil and gas extraction in their state.

CHEYENNE -- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Alternative Enterprises Store has several new items this year for that hard-to-buy-for outdoor enthusiast. The store has items for anglers, hunters and in general, anyone interested in wildlife.

Burbot, or ling, may look funny, but despite their eel-like apperance, they are excellent eating. Burbot are members of the cod family, so be creative and try your own recipes using burbot instead.

CASPER-- A day outside is a great way to learn new skills, have fun and connect with family, friends or just yourself. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department hopes you'll start your outdoor adventures at the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Heritage Expo, Sept. 11-13 in Casper.

JACKSON-- National Elk Refuge Manager Steve Kallin and Wyoming Game and Fish Department Jackson Region Wildlife Supervisor Tim Fuchs announce the initiation of a new online application process for obtaining elk hunting permits for the National Elk Refuge. Wyoming Game and Fish Department staff have worked closely with refuge personnel to expand the State's computerized system for its Private Lands Public Wildlife (PLPW) access program to include the National Elk Refuge.

Steve Ferrell, who has been deputy director of the Arizona Game and Fish Department since 1999, has been named the new director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department by Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal. Ferrell, who started at Arizona Game and Fish in 1975, succeeds current Wyoming Game and Fish Director Terry Cleveland, who will retire on June 30 after 39 years of service with his department.
