REITZ WINS WALMART BASS FISHING LEAGUE EVENT ON LAKE WINNECONNE

WINNECONNE, Wisconsin - Clayton Reitz of Morton, Ill., won the Walmart Bass Fishing League® Great Lakes Division tournament on Lake Winneconne Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 15 pounds, 9 ounces. The victory earned Reitz $4,472 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Fort Madison Regional Championship in Fort Madison, Iowa, Oct. 1-3, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

Walleye bag limits revised on 255 northern lakes

MADISON – Daily walleye bag limits will increase May 22 on 255 lakes in the Wisconsin Ceded Territory to reflect spring spearing harvest by six Wisconsin bands of Chippewa Indians.

A daily bag limit of one or two walleye will increase to two or three walleye per day on 92 lakes. In addition, 163 lakes will go from an initial bag limit of one or two walleyes per day to the state daily bag limit of five, according to Joe Hennessy, who coordinates the treaty fisheries management program for the Department of Natural Resources.

(May 6, 2009) - The Great Lakes Division of the $8 million Walmart Bass Fishing League® will visit the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wis., May 16 for the first of five regular-season events. As many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $45,000 in cash, including a top award of $6,000 in the Boater Division.

OCONTO WALLEYES FEATURED ON FISHING THE MIDWEST

The Oconto Wisconsin area and its walleyes will be featured on the Fishing the Midwest television show this weekend, February 28 and March 1, in most markets throughout the Midwest. The show was taped late last August. Bob Jensen, host of Fishing the Midwest, fished with walleye pros Bruce DeShano and Dean Arnoldussen.

NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL ANGLERS GATHER IN MILWAUKEE

The National Professional Anglers Association conference was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last weekend, January 2-4, 2009. There were close to 100 members in attendance at the Hilton Hotel with the members and supporting members being upbeat and optimistic instead of the "gloom and doom" attitude you find everywhere in these difficult economic times. Under a banner that read, "It's Time to Make a Difference," the member anglers and marine and tackle manufacturers heard from many of the industry's experts including Hall of Fame angler and fishing industry pioneer, Al Lindner. Lindner went on to say, "Even though the economy has had a major impact on our fishing industry, there's no place in the world that has as much access to public waters with great fishing than all across the United States."
