WATERBURY, VERMONT - Planning a fishing or boating trip in Vermont just got easier. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department has developed a website to help boaters find access points to lakes and larger rivers for fishing and other recreational opportunities.

VERMONT ICE SHANTIES TO GO NO LATER THAN MARCH 29

WATERBURY, VT - Cold weather may have extended ice fishing on some Vermont lakes, but a state law requires that ice fishing shanties must be removed from the ice no later than Sunday, March 29.

The same Vermont law requiring the name and address of the owner be on an ice shanty also requires that the shanty be removed before the ice becomes unsafe or loses its ability to support the shanty out of the water, or before the last Sunday in March (the 29th this year), whichever comes first.

MISSISQUOI BAY WATER USE ADVISORY LIFTED BY VERMONT OFFICIALS

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department announces that all water use restrictions associated with the Missisquoi River sea lamprey control treatment have been lifted. Monitoring indicates that the lampricide, TFM, has dissipated and that normal uses to the water may be resumed. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department thanks local residents and other people who have visited the area during the treatment for their cooperation in this program.

New Paris, Indiana and Colchester, Vermont - Starcraft Marine's pro fisherman Greg Yarbrough and Jeff Manz brought home the top honor at the Cabela's MWC World Walleye Championship held October 2-4, 2008 at Dundee, Michigan-Detroit River/Lake Erie. The pair edged out the competition with a fourth-day winning weight of 20.9 pounds.
