The event will benefit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and its outdoor recreation programs.

Redfish are good in the marsh on small topwaters. Trout have been taken in the middle of the lake under birds.
SOUTH SABINE
Trout are good on live shad around the Louisiana shoreline. Trout, redfish and jack crevalle are good around the jetty on live bait and topwaters.

Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 0.16' low. Black bass are good on buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and large blue fleck soft plastic worms fished along timber lines. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs.

City and state officials will dedicate the new 10.9 mile Lake Arlington Paddling Trail at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at Richard W. Simpson Park in Arlington, marking the first Texas Paddling Trail on a lake and the first in Dallas/Fort Worth or any other urban area. Richard Simpson Park is located at 6300 W. Arkansas Lane.
New Era Begins on Lake Conroe

During the 1980s the 21,000-acre reservoir just north of Houston was the scene of a bitter battle over how to control hydrilla, an exotic plant that invaded the lake to such an extent it hampered boating and recreational use of the lake.
