JONES WINS WALMART BASS FISHING LEAGUE EVENT ON LAKE WYLIE

South Carolina Fishing NewsLAKE WYLIE, South Carolina - Boater Parks Jones, Jr. of York, South Carolina, won the Walmart Bass Fishing League South Carolina Division Super Tournament on Lake Wylie with a two-day catch of nine bass weighing 11 pounds, 7 ounces. The victory earned Jones $4,518.

The world-class anglers will be signing autographs, posing for photos and offering fishing tips to store visitors during the two-hour event, which precedes the $2 million Forrest Wood Cup presented by BP and Castrol on Lake Murray August 14-17. Anglers from all 50 states plus Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Mexico and Spain competed in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, Wal-Mart FLW Series, Stren Series Championship, Wal-Mart BFL All-American and TBF National Championship to qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup and a chance to compete for as much as $1 million.

At that time, all those years ago in 2000, Magers and the ladies competed on the Women's Bass Fishing Association. It was the only professional circuit specifically for women and was the successor to the Bass 'n Gal trail that had been around for a couple of decades.
