A free workshop is available on Saturday, February 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will take place at Wildlife District One, 1500 Dublin Road, Columbus Ohio.

COLUMBUS, OH - Now is the time for Ohioans to renew their watercraft registrations if they are set to expire on March 1. The renewal process can be completed conveniently online, through the mail or in person, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.

COLUMBUS, OH-Ohio Sea Grant is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Chris Winslow as its new Assistant Director. Winslow will coordinate the program's Great Lakes research with agencies and universities, as well as assist in research, curriculum development, and student recruitment at Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory.

Ohio Lake Erie Commission Awards Grants
TOLEDO, OH - On December 14, 2011, the Ohio Lake Erie Commission approved the following five Lake Erie Protection Fund grant awards:

Erie County Health Department was awarded a grant in the amount of $15,000 to track Harmful Algal Blooms in the Sandusky Bay throughout 2012. Partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the health department will collect key data to be used to confirm the information provided by satellite imagery, thereby improving early warning satellite products.

COLUMBUS, OH - Two tick species of public health importance are becoming more common and expanding their range in Ohio - the blacklegged tick and the lone star tick, according to the Ohio Department of Health, Zoonotic Disease Program.

XENIA, OH -Fisheries biologist Debra Walters has been promoted to Fish Management Supervisor for the ODNR Division of Wildlife's District Five. The district covers 17 counties throughout southwest Ohio. Walters succeeds Doug Maloney who recently retired after more than thirty years with the Division of Wildlife.

WHAT: Boater Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio, caught a two-day total of nine bass weighing 16 pounds, 1 ounce Sept. 24-25 to win $5,004 plus a $2,000 Ranger Cup bonus in the Walmart BFL Hoosier Division tournament on the Ohio River. Shaffer fished rock and wood patterns on the main river and used a spinnerbait and topwater bait.

TOLEDO, OH - Investigators with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Watercraft and the U.S. Coast Guard are seeking additional witnesses to Sunday's boating-related accident on the Maumee River near Cullen Park that claimed the life of 49-year-old Ricky Lopez of Toledo.
