Bainbridge Island, Washington - The top names in Fly Fishing have joined forces together to put togther a world-class fly fishing outfit as a fundraiser for Trout Unlimited-Alaska to help with their efforts protecting the Bristol Bay watershed.

The idea for Outdoorsman Exchange came about in an instant, but in a way it was sometime in the making – we just didn’t realize it at the time.

For years my husband, Paul, has wanted to go on an elk hunt. I’ve encouraged him many times. He and his brothers talk how they should all go elk hunting out west with their Dad before age took its toll on him. Pursuit of that dream sounded good but there was always the financial reality check that held my husband back. He couldn’t justify spending money on a guided hunting trip and felt a guided trip was the only way to go for a successful hunt. This voice inside kept telling him - we need to save money for more sensible things like kids braces, college funds, etc. Most everyone can relate to these thoughts, unless you’re an heir to a fortune.

Salmo, Polish manufacturer of premium hardbaits, recently celebrated importing its millionth lure to the United States at the ICAST show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There, Salmo-Poland owners Peter Piskorski and Rado Zaworski presented Salmo-USA owner Steve Baumann the “Golden Hornet.

A team from EFTTA visited this year’s 50th anniversary ICAST event in Las Vegas, and watched as the USA fishing tackle trade celebrated the best new products and stands at the show.

This year, the ICAST New Product Showcase was more competitive than ever. Sponsored by Fishing Tackle Retailer, 180 companies entered more than 600 tackle products and accessories into the awards.

EFTTA made a major impression at the huge ICAST50 tackle trade show held in Las Vegas - by unveiling our exciting plans for EFTTEX 2008 in Rome and our new digital magazine, EFTTA Trade News.

The event, in the Las Vegas Convention Centre, attracted more than 6,700 visitors over three days and occupied 350,000 square feet.

Las Vegas, NV - July 12, 2007 – During ICAST 2007, the sportfishing industry’s annual trade show, six members of the American Sportfishing Association were recognized by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) for exceptional achievement in encouraging anglers to take the Anglers’ Legacy pledge and commit to taking more people fishing. ICAST was held July 11 – 13, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

CARSON CITY -- Public hearings begin this month on a plan to make the Carson River more accessible and safer for recreational use, including kayaking and whitewater rafting.

The Carson River Aquatic Trail Master Plan is part of the capital city's Unified Pathways Master Plan and was designed by a steering committee made up of state, county and city officials.
