Bainbridge Island, Washington - The top names in Fly Fishing have joined forces together to put togther a world-class fly fishing outfit as a fundraiser for Trout Unlimited-Alaska to help with their efforts protecting the Bristol Bay watershed.

L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools’ courses are offered in the waters around Maine, Maryland and Virginia, allowing participants a chance to refine their fly fishing skills beginning in April.

Freeport, Maine (Vocus/PRWEB ) February 27, 2008 --The L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools offers anglers a chance to hone their fly fishing skills in specialized courses and tours that are easily accessible to those visiting or living along the East Coast. These courses, offered in the waters around Maine, Maryland and Virginia, allow participants a chance to refine their fly fishing skills beginning as early as April, and continuing into fall. Costs range from $95 to $395 with a minimum age of 12.

The idea for Outdoorsman Exchange came about in an instant, but in a way it was sometime in the making – we just didn’t realize it at the time.

For years my husband, Paul, has wanted to go on an elk hunt. I’ve encouraged him many times. He and his brothers talk how they should all go elk hunting out west with their Dad before age took its toll on him. Annapolis, Maryland - Governor Martin O'Malley today hosted the 2007 Chesapeake Executive Council (EC) annual meeting in Annapolis. The first such meeting under the O'Malley Administration was conceived in an effort to reinvigorate the region's efforts to reduce nutrient and sediment pollution throughout the Bay watershed.

Pursuant to Code of Maryland Regulation 08.02.15.12(H), DNR has modified the striped bass December gill net daily catch limit. The December daily catch limit has been replaced with a total allowable weekly catch limit of 2,500 pounds per licensee. This total allowable weekly catch limit will expire at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007. This change is recommended by the Tidal Fisheries Advisory Commission when the December gill net quota is in excess of 200,000 pounds.

Annapolis, Maryland — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today released the recently completed Maryland State Parks Funding Study, A plan to fully fund the operations of the Maryland Park Service. The study, which examines the current needs of Maryland's park system and includes recommendations for increased funding over the next five to six years, was prepared by a work group comprised of staff and park advocates. Governor Martin O'Malley's revenue package, currently being considered by the General Assembly, proposes a $5 million increase in funding for Maryland State Parks.

Maryland to Experience Largest Irruption of Rare Northern Saw-Whet Owls Since 1999
WHAT: Maryland Department of Natural Resources biologists and volunteers will monitor Northern Saw-whet Owls currently migrating into and through Maryland from Canada for the winter. Biologists will use nets to capture the owls as part of the monitoring. Cameramen and photographers should be prepared for night-time lighting, but may use their own lights or flashes as needed.
