FWC Sets Meeting for Jacksonville Sept. 17-19

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront hotel in Jacksonville Sept. 17-19.

On Sept. 17 (Wednesday), the Commission will vote on several new rules.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is warning Floridians not to attempt to rescue wild animals or interact with wildlife in the wake of Tropical Storm Fay.

The FWC has noted reports of alligators and snakes swimming around in flooded neighborhoods. Officials said they expect the animals to return to their natural habitats once water recedes back to normal levels.

Swift response by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) law enforcement and other officers averted potential tragedy when a lion and Bengal tiger escaped from their cage at McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary in Palm Beach County. The adult tiger and lion escaped sometime late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Officers captured both animals by Wednesday morning and returned them to secure cages.
