COSTA RICA TRIP LURES MILITARY ANGLERS
Athens, Alabama…… This years' Military Bass Anglers will be fishing for a spectacular Grand Prize Trip to Costa Rica to fish for trophy catches. The 'once in a lifetime fishing vacation' to Costa Rica is compliments of Early Times Kentucky Whisky and JDC Marketing. The champions will be escorted from the airport to Los Suenos to their Colina two-bedroom, luxury condo, via a private luxury van. They will enjoy two days on the water on a chartered boat to enjoy a fishing trip they won't soon forget!
"Early Times Kentucky Whisky is extremely proud to sponsor the Military Team Bass Tournament once again this year," said Joe Murray, Brand Manager for Early Times Kentucky Whisky. "We are so grateful for everything our military men and women give of themselves for our country and this is a small thank you from us to them to show our appreciation."
Los Sueños Resort and Marina is a 1,100-acre master planned destination resort community. Los Sueños encompasses a private 600-acre rainforest reserve; a 201-room five star Marriott hotel; over 500 luxury residences, including single-family homes, lots, condominiums and lavish villas; a full service 200-slip international marina; an exclusive Beach Club for residents; an 18-hole championship golf course, and much more. The winners will be fishing offshore for Sailfish, Wahoo, Marlin, Tuna and Mahi-Mahi.
Last years' Champions, father and son team, Mike & Jake Gipson, were the first recipients of this great adventure! "I would like to express a big thanks again to Early Times Whisky, JDC Marketing, and American Bass Anglers for the opportunity of a lifetime", said Mike. "We traveled to Costa Rica in early November and in addition to my older son, I was able to carry my wife and younger son to experience this great trip with us", continued Gipson.
"The Los Suenos Resort and Marina is recognized worldwide for the excellent fishing it provides. After meeting our Captain on the first fishing day, we departed the Marina and headed about 25 miles out. Just barely over an hour after leaving the Marina, we had our first "tripleheader." All three of us were in the back of the boat fighting Dorados- Mahi Mahi- at the same time. It was a bit of controlled chaos as we ducked under and over each other. The action was steady all morning, but started to taper off as we traveled further out. But the reason for focusing deeper quickly became evident. My youngest son's rod bowed and the water erupted when a giant fish-an almost 400 pound Blue Marlin-engulfed his ballyhoo. What a sight! After nearly 30 minutes of give and take, the beautiful Marlin was released at the side of the boat. It was indeed a fish of a lifetime. For the lucky team that wins this year, I can tell them, it was one of the most special weeks I have ever spent and will relive for many years. I'm all geared up and ready for our next Military Team Bass Tournament at the Red River in Alexandria, Louisiana. Not only is it a great opportunity to spend time with my son, but it gives me the chance to see old friends that I served with for many years. I hope to see many of them there!" concluded Gipson.
