“Stewardship” students to learn nature-awareness skills

Montana Fishing News | Outdoor News
BILLINGS — Children can learn to experience nature while walking like a fox and watching like an owl. Such nature-awareness skills are part of the Monday, July 14, session of “Earth Stewardship for Young Folks” program at Pictograph Cave State Park south of Billings.

The session runs from 9 to 11 a.m. each Monday through Aug. 25.

Each week storytelling and nature-based activities will focus on a new topic intended to help children develop a relationship with the Earth. Participants may attend any or all of the sessions.

The program is free, but space is limited. Reservations are encouraged by calling Pictograph Cave State Park at 245-0227.

Future programs include:

July 21 – Animal tracks

July 28 – Become a junior ranger

Aug. 4 – Un-nature trails

Aug. 11 – Archeology

Aug. 18 – Snakes, frogs and other reptiles

Aug. 25 – Storytelling – What’s your story in nature?

Pictograph Cave State Park is open every day this summer from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no charge for Montana residents, but park fees may apply for non-residents.
