Snakeheads Slither Into Tennessee

Tennessee Fishing News

MEMPHIS, TN—A northern snakehead has been found in a Memphis lake, the first discovery of the invasive species in Tennessee.
The 17-inch snakehead was found dead in small Poplar Tree Lake in Shelby Forest State Park, and Tennessee wildlife officials say the discovery has them worried that other snakeheads might be in the state. In response, state wildlife agents will conduct a fish count in the lake. They say if other snakeheads are found, the 125-acre lake might have to be drained.
